Yes, we've maybe had more skillful players to hang wur hats on in the last 20 years or so, but for me, I wouldn't swap next weeks first XI for anyone.
I've heard the stories and watched the highlights from far too many games now - our defeat of the World Champions in '67, wee Buzz Bremner sliding one past the post in '74, Dalgleish's diving header at Anfield in '77, the list is endless.
But now? NOW? It's our time. Our DESTINY. It's time. When will it EVER be better? Beating the world champions to qualify for a major finals? Sorry, it doesnae get any better!
Personally, I've waited 30 years for this. It'll hopefully be over in the twinkling of McFaddens eye - or aff Davie Weirs arse, I couldnae care less - I'll tell you something though -
I hope Italy ARE at full strength, cos then we'll show them what a team of committed warriors with a lion rampant on their chest can REALLY ****ing do. We'll show them that football isnae all about flicks and tricks and diving, and copious amounts of Vidal Sassoon in their hair - it's all about 50-50 challenges, winning the ****in LOT of them, working hard, closing down, and being there for your team mate as if your life depended on it.
It's our time. It's our TIME. It's our legacy. I've never been more nervous - but I've also never been more sure of a result in my puff.
