I feel that there is more chance of Gordon Marshall singing The Sash as he marches past The Bogside on The Wall surrounding the town of Derry than Berti taking us to Germany for the World Cup.

Berti, Strachan, Stein.........it does not matter who the manager was, we will not qualify through this section. Our players are very average (at best) and the ones who are the best of the bad bunch have called in sick. They are the ones that need to go.......
But its not your managers fault - your players aren't good enough; you can't polish a turd!
He did a good job getting you one game away from Portugal in the Euro 2004 qualifiers - but this group is difficult and you are on a hiding to nothing.
You'll beat the Moldovans home and away, you'll get 2 draws against Belarus, you'll get a shock win either in Slovenia or Norway (losing the other one) and you'll get tonked off Italy.
Finishing 4th - a countrymile of the playoffs. Sorry - your just not good enough
I'll give you half a point in as condescending and irritating manner as possible
Its Salvador Allende, President of Chile 1970-73, who in my opinion should be more iconic than Che Guevera.
****skip the next paragraph if you have absolutely no interest in learning about my personal hero - save yourself a load of time, its probably mainly waffle anyway****
He came to power legally as an elected Marxist and kept the country democratic throughout his presidency. However America saw a free Chile as a "potential Cuba", and a Soviet satelite state. So, on September 11th 1973 (ironic eh?) the US excecuted a perfect coup d'etat in Santiago and various port cities in Chile, overthrowing Allende and installing General Pinochet as the new dictator of Chile. The guy Pinochet was a total bastard who killed thousands, he's on trial now in Chile for human rights abuses. Allende could have fled the capital on September 11th but he chose to fight to the death - he was murdered protecting Chilean democracy by US backed deathsquads. He died on the day of the coup in the presidential palace - he is a national hero in Chile and I think he should be an International hero. The ultimate irony is more people died in Chile as a result of 11/9/1973 than in New York 11/9/2001, also the NYC terrorist attack didn't kill US democracy, it didn't kill the president of a sovereign state, but the US backed terrorist attack in Chile actually succeeded in enslaving the Chilean people and slaughtered freedom and democracy in Chile. But you don't see Chile declaring war on America and all Americas allies do you? You don't see Chile demanding UN inspectors to check America and Britains stockpile of WMD do you? Our world sucks.
Off my soapbox now......enjoy Moldova everyone I think you'll win this one - they look like the whipping boyes of your group.
