Thats not true Webmaster.

I have met lots of different people from various countries. This year at Uni I have dealt with Irish people, Welsh people, Scottish people, a Greek, a Turk, a Saudi, 4 Chinese people, 2 Malaysian people, a Tanzanian, English people, an American, 4 French people and an Austrian.

I find nobody discriminates against me on the basis of my country and/or ethnic origin. Those who do are the scum of this world - you know the sort BNP, National Front, Loyalists, Nazis...........certain Scottish football suporters.

You may think your hatred of us is funny and I'm over-reacting; but do you think that some Scottish people might take it the wrong way? And this football hatred might manifest itself into other areas? Bullying in schools, workplace discrimination, vandalism, intimidation and then we're on a slippy slope..................I think you should be careful before you start making statements such as "Everyone hates the English".

I have not visited this website for well over a year - probably nearly 2 years. I used to call myself SHP. I wasn't very popular with you guys.......God knows why because deep down you all know I talk reasonable sense. Rather have a country full of people with my liberal attitude than a country full of people with your thuggish, laddish, tribalist mentality. I like having banter even with people I don't agree with or get on with. But, as before, I will **** off and leave you in peace once the tournument is over.

So justify your HATRED of the Barcodes. I remember your posts, even if you have a short memory.

Can't be bothered to explain - but there is a difference between regional rivalry and natioal rivalry. The latter can lead to wars, bigotry and hatred. The former is normally banter which can be healed every Friday night down the pub.

I think England will win through tonight - but it'll need a huge effort. Portugal have good players AND are the host team. We'll have to be at our best. But the Semis will be where the story ends - Holland are going to be **** hot I reckon. Holland-Czech Republic Final. Probably the best two sides in the tournument so far and served up a class match the other night - so it'll probably be deserved.

England, France, Czech Republic and Holland will be the Semi Final Quartet in my opinion.

Ah. A common peice of ground.
I myself cannot see Portugal beating E**land, they rely on Figo when there is no need to. Seven Porto players in the national side, who have proved themselves as Europe best (domesticaly) yet the still play everything through Figo? The new Chelsea manager said that Portuguese teams never play with twin strikers so never need to defend against twin strikers and that this is what will give E**land the edge. Now I'm praying to god that he's got it wrong but in reality I reckon you will go through. But Holland are in a different league (if they choose to be?) but I said it at the start and I will repeat it again. The Czech Republic will win the chamionships, they have class and commitment and a true team ethic and this will prove to be to much for all the other prima donnas out there.

Aye, but to be fair we really WERE ROBBED.

****ing hell! That was a GOAL at the end, I'm sure my moaning is music to your ears - but all the same - that was a ****ing GOAL.

A goal I tells you!

There was no contact with their goalie, no infringement, no obstruction...nothing. Whats the craic giving a free kick? If that incident occured in the middle of the aprk between 3 midfielders there would have been no decision from the ref. But because it was in the box the ref bottles it and gives a fre kick.

We wuz ****ing robbed man.

Take pleasure in our defeat all you like - but at least give us the credit that we were ****ing robbed by an abysmally cowardly decision from the ref. But isn't it always the same? Either penalties or refereeing blunders. And that goes for England AND Sunderland. Makes me sick.

Yes, the E**lish support were robbed, but not by the ref, but by the very team they support. They paid good money to watch there team trying to defend a 1-0 lead, only to end up losers one both occassions.
This is European football at it's best. The best teams in Europe competeing to win and England think they can sit on a one goal lead. They tried it against France and got beat, did they learn anything from that? Did they hell, they go out and try it again as if the first time was a fluke?
If at first you don't succeed, pull your foreskin oo'er yer heid.
The only people robbed were the E**lish support and they were robbed by the very team they went 1,000's of miles to follow.

England deserved to go out:

  1. Their lack of respect of the opposition, thinking that 88 minutes is not enough time for top class players to equalise
  2. Poor substitutions
  3. Poor Tactics
  4. Most importantly, they were outplayed and outclassed by a team who were determined to win!!

Incidentally the ref has agreeed that he made the mistake.

Well done to him for having the balls to stand up and say so.

I'm still gutted, but I'm sure we'll get over it fresh to be knocked out of Germany 2006 in the Quarter Finals by another dodgey decision. And I'll look forward to Sunderland being robbed of a place in the Premiership and/or the Play Offs by a dodgey decision.

It's always the same with teams I support. God hates me.

Now now let's not get too excited England always go out eventually unless there is a Russian linesman about.  I for one am a little disappointed they are out as it would have been better had they got to the final to keep us more interested in the remaining games.

The reason they are out is simply that they were not better than the Portuguese and that is fact.  Add to that a very poor showing from their captain in comparison to his capability and also their manager substituting 3 penalty takers (albeit one was injured) says it all.

Let's also get it straight we don't all hate England. I don't.  I actually have a deep respect for their players.  The hate part only comes from those jokers in the TV studio and in particular the antics of Alan Hansen.  How he has the audacity to criticise anyone after his balls up with Willie Miller in Spain '82 is beyond me.  That is the reason I and most other Scots are happy to see England lose.  It is the TV I tell you. A good example is just before Portugal scored the ball hit the bar and "possibly" bounced behind the goal line.  Unlike Geoff Hurst's infamous "goal" we were not given the opportunity to see it again to judge if it was a goal or not.  Finally, I think the England disallowed goal was a goal but then surely things are at long last now evening out out to redress the balance of that fatal mistake by the said Russian linesman.

Go on the Czechs.

Did you know that the "Russian linesman" wasn’t Russian?

Its actually true.

But we got the luck that day – but whose to say we wouldn’t have won anyway? I mean – we did score another! But to be fair England have been paying for that ever since – 1986 for example the hand of god, 1994 Koeman incident, 1998 Simeone’s dive/Campbells goal and now 2004. And on top of that we have the amount of penalties we’ve lost; and also 1982 when we won 3 drew 2 lost 0…………..and still went out.

England can hardly be described as lucky – any luck we did get in ’66 has been since paid back 3 or 4 times over.

Before "Lock Up John" catches you out at the next trivia quiz, he (the linesman) was actually from Azerbaijan, which meant he was in fact Azeri.
Now. At the time (1966) he was in fact a Soviet referee. He only became officially Azeri in 1991.

Why oh why am I on my PC writing this crap on a Saturday night, when I should be down at HQ getting mong'd.
"Taxi for WebMaster!!"

Sure you don't care, but the Azeria Soviet Socialist Republic was in existence in 1966. Officially the USSR was an internationalist union - all the countries independent of the USSR were autonomous Republics - in fact Russia had the same status as Georgian SSR, Moldovan SSR, Ukrainian SSR, Azeri SSR etc.

So the referee was Soviet, but primarily an Azeri.

And the ball crossed the line
