The SFA is hoping to hear soon from the Italian FA where the match on 26 March will be played. We fully appreciate how frustrating the delay in naming a venue has been for everyone, and that includes the players and staff as well as the fans.
In the meantime, here is a summary of the situation with regard to tickets for Scotland fans:
Almost 10,000 members have returned the forms which we sent out in December, to express an interest in attending the match. The deadline for returning the forms was the end of December, and as this has passed we will not accept any further forms. Also, it must be understood that any new members of the Scotland Supporters Club will NOT be eligible for tickets to the Italy game.
Once the venue is known, we will then get details as quickly as possible from the Italian FA about our seating allocation, and the ticket prices. When this information is complete, the SFA will send an application form to all those who expressed an interest in attending.
If more people apply for tickets than our allocation, there will be a ballot for tickets, based on attendance at the last 10 full Scotland away matches (ie back to and including Portugal in November 2002). As previously, there will be a strict policy of one ticket per person.
Finally, a heartfelt plea. Given the huge numbers of people involved, please do not phone the SFA or the Scotland Supporters Club for information about the progress of your ticket application, unless absolutely necessary. We have taken on extra temporary staff to process membership renewals and applications, and to allocate the Italy tickets, and a large number of phone calls will simply slow the whole process down for everyone.
