Get your arse over to the TAMB. Moldova looks like it will be fun and games. Might be no accomodation in Chisinau due to it being a festival that week. Luckily the game is likely to be played in Tiraspol, the capital of the breakaway county of Transnistria. They view Moldovans as foreigners!!
Tiraspol even has a different currency from the rest of Moldova according to some TAMBers, and apparantly the president of Moldova was refused entry to Tiraspol when they played Holland there.
Comment from our Government Travel Advice website:
Transnistria (northeast Moldova) is not under Moldovan government control. The UK and other EU countries imposed a visa ban on some of the Transnistrian leadership in February 2003. There have also been unconfirmed press reports of radioactivity in the Ribnita region of northern Transnistria. We are not aware of any increased difficulties for British travellers as a result of the visa bans, but if you are considering going to Transnistria you might want to consider carefully whether the journey is necessary, and inform Consular Section, British Embassy, Chisinau of your plans (tel: +373 2 238 991; fax: +373 2 238 992; email: receptionist@be.moldline.net (though in practice we may be able to provide only very limited assistance for anyone in difficulties in Transnistria).
Looking forward to this one!
I am 37
